Hi guys,

Need some advice on one of my quotes, struggling to pin down a price.

Job involves, bathroom suite swap, sort out plumbing in bathroom (currenntly snakes through bath legs!), install plumbing for new leccy shower, swap standard bath for corner one and move toilet 6" and change over to close coupled.

After that I have to supply, fit and finish (3 coats Osmo floorwax) 7sqm of hardwood flooring in an awkward shaped hallway.

Now here's what I would normally charge in Glasvegas:

Bathroom suite swap & install leccy shower - £450 & £150

Sort out spaghetti junction underbath - £150

Supply floor, fit and finish  - £70 sqm (the stuff is costing me £53/m, excluding underlay and wax)

So in total £750

                 £490

Total       £1240 all inclusive.

Its about 4-6 days work in total including any nasty surprises. Might beast it out in less depending how many problems I encounter.

Problem I'm having is that I'm working down in Surrey/Reading area at the moment. Just not sure what the going rate is to keep things competitive???

Guys be honest and any help is appreciated as always.

personally i think the bathroom swap and altering the pipework is excessive. id swap the suite and alter the pipework for £450. as its only a days work .plumbing for electric shower depends on how far your pipe run is etc. but to be honest ive no idea what the guys would charge in surrey Embarrassed

thats no help at all is itConfusedConfused

firstly 4-6 days is a big spread, it's 4, 5 or 6 days....

I'm in Surrey, and used to install bathrooms, I quit a few years back and had absolutely no trouble billing out at £200 a day, I was always fully booked.

When booked a long way in advance I would quote at £300 a day and still pick up a few of those too.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies so far....

the reason I've put in 4-6 days is that my gut feeling about the house is not good. The new owners have had to have a lot of remedial stuff done just to get on with things. Heck the tiles in the bathroom are all offset and squint. Nearly every single one ! The plumbing is almost ridiculous though... bath feeds are at a 20 deg angle to the tap threads and leak quite a bit, obviously. I've spoken to quite a few people and my neighbour's friend is a site plumber, he reckoned the going rate for a straight suite swap out seems to be £550 anything needs moved or different price goes a bit wacky.

Muddy whereabouts in Surrey are you ? might drop by the premises to pick up a few samples n prices. Wink
