Ok, ive had this Samsung Galaxy S now for about 3 weeks and think i have got to grips with it.
After a couple of days messing about trying to get my email working how I wanted i decided to give up with Samsungs interface.
With Android being an open network i managed to hgave a look around and download a different operating sytem, something called Launcher pro plus.
What it did was speed up greatly the experience, making switching apps and screen etc an awful lot smoother. I then got an email app called K9 and linked to my email through imap allowing me to access it and anywhere and also delete emails on servers etc.
My electrician has the iphone 3gs and i have to admit that straight out of the box the iphone was alot easier to use. I suppose the android one is but you know that you are still using the makers operating system and it isnt as well developed as io4 the iphone interface.
If you are willing to put in a bit of work and ditch this then the android system is enless.
! great thing Samsung have is the typing feature Swype. This enables you to hust drag your finger across letters and it types them out, not even needing to add spaces. I have to sayt that it has transformed my communication habits. I used to be dreadful at texting but now i can do indepth emails and texts in no time on the phone. This is extremely helpful as i can communicate alot easier with not only work but with the cricket team i run which is predominately text and email.
The screen is unbelievable and one of the reasons i got it. Without wishing to poo poo the iphone or other phones this screen is top of the range. Against my mates iphone in direct sunlight you can see my screen no trouble where as the iphone faded considerably.
Speed is fantastic and built in Navigation works a treat.
to cut it all short, it took me a bit to get it set up so i can use it exactly how I want but is well worth it.
I think ive just stopped short of becoming a phone geek but this is really an amazing phone, also allowing me to read the telegraph paper online on the toilet whichever toilet i want to.
lastly.
My plasterer has just got the iphone 4, a top piece of kit as well.
He paid £120 for the phone and pays £40 a month contract for 1200 minutes. Like i said in another post that is a total of £1080 over the course of the contract.
I paid (special offer) nothing on the phone and £20 a month contract making that a total of £480 over the course.
A massive difference.
My plaster justified it by pointing out that his has a forward camera for video chatting. I asked him how it was and he said he hasnt used it yet as no one else has it....
Again im not poo pooing other phones but i dont think alot of people can see past apple and for that apple charges them a fortune. My spark with the 3gs told me when he got his how it has the upgrade to do multitasking. He was told this when he got it, problem is he doesnt know how do do it and isnt bothered. I found out for him but to be honest, if he isnt that bothered about such features why didnt he look for a better deal on another phone that does exactly what he needs?
Some people want to throw money around.

loads of people have the iphone because it is the in thing to have, never mind if they actually use it or not. i have a mate who has one who can barely turn a computer on, i'm sure he only has it so he can show off in the pub
![]() I have just bought an Ipad, which is basically an expensive touch screen laptop, and works much like a big iphone. It is a dream to use and i love it, and has got me thinking i would like an iphone, but until they stop charging for the phone i can't see it happening. £120 (£240 for the top of the range model) on top of an already expensive monthly contract is taking the piss IMO, especially when there are so many other phones around which do the same thing for a fraction of the cost. but they are nice ![]() |

I'm saving up for a mac, brilliant bit of kit, I always have a good play with one at the istore, quite like the ipad but happy browsing the net in bed using the
phone, sat here playing COD in between games on the iPhone. No idea how it compares to other phones to be honest, it is undoubtedly expensive but it all goes through the business and I spend a lot more than £40 a day on odds and sods let alone per month so it does get lost in the consumption of the business. |

i've used macs a bit, and i don't think i could get on with it as my main computer. no matter what the mac geeks claim, stuff isn't always 100% compatible with microsoft, which was the reason i didn't get one a few years back. whilst they are designed for ease of use, this does mean that they are not as flexible as a pc.
and, like all apple stuff, they are twice the price of an equivalent pc - but they do look cool |

i think in a couple of years time every house will have an ipad/macbook type thing lying around the coffee table.
Thank god for android though or apple would charge even more

well i bit the bullet and got the HTC desire this week, and it is fantastic
![]() I've got an ipad (basically a big iphone but without the phone) and love how easy it is to use, which initially drew me towards the iphone. but reading reviews the htc comes out at least equal to the iphone, and better in some respects. since i resent the cost of the iphone, i went for the htc and it is awesome - just as easy to use as the ipad, without all of the awkward things that really annoy me about apple products. all in all, given the cost difference i am struggling to see any reason to go for an iphone. having said that they are still selling like hot cakes, so maybe i'm missing something. |
