noticed the other day we had a leak in the kitchen coming from the shower. after i have just had a look i can see that some tiles on the wall are pulling away and the wall sounds hollow when tapped.

mrs sid has decided that she wants a whole new shower.

we need a 1200x 800 tray. chrome sliding door as i will build a studded wall at the end to form an enclosure. what do you reccomend for light i9nside the cubible as the wall will block the window light. also need new shower mixer type.

we are going to buy some panels to fit to wall and change them at a later date when we do the whole bathroom.

any recommendations on a small budget.

i would imagine you wanted a 1200x800 rectangular tray rather than a quadrant.then all you need is a 1200 slider for the door if youve enclosed the other three sides. you can get a 1200x800 tray from b and q for about 90 quid. youll be looking at a 1200 slider for about 240 quid at the cheapest.

i was thinking along those price lines jaber. im still trying to convince mrs sid that i could just pull all the tiles off that wall. render it and retile it for less than a ton.

shes not having it at the moment but give me time

Hi Sid,

In the process of doing my son's bathroom at the mo. I would recommend the shower trays with tile over upstands as I feel that these make the bottom joint pretty leak proof. Okay, you have to chase in a few mil but once done you do not want to do it again.

Also, I am sure you have thought of this, use Aquapanel for the stud wall.  As for valves I always pick the Mira 415 built in valve and head. No water traps for mould factories. The Mira trays are worth a look as well.

Hope this helps,

DWD

Marble's better than limestone, Sid.

A shower tray will look naff with marble tiles. Go the whole hog and make it a wet room.

bit of a result yesterday. an old mate of mine owns plumbing shops all over the north west. he has bought a big new place in widnes and i popped in yesterday. he is doing me a novellini 1200x900 quadrant enclosure with stone tray, thermostatic bar mixer and 2x wall panels for £500.

so i am ripping old out today. this could be funny as i normally dont get involved in stuff like this. will keep you posted

Mrs S.  Carrera marble is what you want.  It's the best quality there is.  A wetroom completely lined in it would look lovely and give the neighbours something to talk about too...
